Jan 31: Chapstick Holder - COMPLETED

Pattern #31: Chapstick Holder

I decided not to make this week specific, but rather a week of miscellaneous patterns. I hope you enjoy this week's random collection. I picked this pattern because my wonderful hubby requested something to put his chapstick in on his keychain... this looks like it will do, right? This pattern was made by Lynn Szwalkiewicz and you can find more of her work here.

I finished these up earlier in the month, because Matthew had been asking for them for so long! I ended up making 2 and keeping one of them for myself. I think these took like 15 minutes each. Here are the crappy pictures from my phone, until we get a good camera! Oh and I kept the first one, he likes the camo / neutral colors better.

Jan 30: Wrist Warmers (Winter) - COMPLETED

Pattern #30: Wrist Warmers

This is our last pattern in Winter Week, almost the same as the first. They are longer and have these cute little ridges on the end. How cute are they? They are designed by Rachel over at Crochet Spot.

I love the blue color of these wrist warmers. And they do keep my wrists warm! I just wore them in Mexico this past weekend. I also like the way they are "ribbed." It gives them a cute look.

I used a size I crochet hook and Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn. I really love her yarn, it's pretty solid and beautiful.

Jan 29: Legwarmers (Winter)

Pattern #29: Legwarmers

This is another pattern by Lynn Szwalkiewicz, over at craftiblog.wordpress.com. I love the way these legwarmers look. When is the last time you wore legwarmers? I think the last time I did was for ballet class... what else do you pair legwarmers with?

Here is the picture by Lynn:

Jan 28: Neckwarmer

Pattern #28: Basic Neckwarmer

This is a great pattern by a Ravelry friend, Gillyweeds. I am so used to long scarves, that I am not sure how I will feel using this - but I'm always up for something new. I love the pink that she used, but what other colors would look good?

Here is the picture from Gillyweeds:

Jan 27: Let it Snow Throw (Winter)

This is one of the larger, stretching, projects. I can already forsee the long time this will take to complete this! haha This is from Coats, makers of Red Heart yarn, among others. I think this will be a Christmas gift for someone, I hope they really appreciate this act of love! haha

Jan 26: Touch of Warmth Cuff (Winter)

This is another Lion Brand find, a smaller version of those earlier wrist warmers. Now, I just need to find the cutest little buttons to accessorize them with! These should be easy enough to whip up in an hour or so!

Jan 25: Headband (Winter) - COMPLETED

Pattern #25: Headband

This is pattern #2 in Winter Week, and inspired by Emily, my Newlywife partner. Christine made her a beautiful knit one for Christmas & I loved it and wanted to make one myself. I'm sure I could have knit it, but my knitting is wretched, so I found a way to crochet it. I made this first one with a mixed color yarn. However, I may make another one in a solid color and add a pattern #2 rosette to embellish this. This black and white one matches my rain / snow jacket perfectly, and I love it! Simple and very cute. I finished it on January 12th, it took about an hour, maybe 2.

Here are the pictures that I have, for now. I will try to get my wonderful hubby to take some better pictures later!

Jan 24: Wrist Warmers - COMPLETED

Pattern #24: Wrist Warmers
This is a pattern by Marlo Cairns and also the start of our Winter Week. I do not have any wrist warmers, but I imagine they would be great for a cold house when you need to get things done and need to use your fingers. I bet Lisa could use these in Korea, she said it is pretty cold there.

------------------

Updated 12/1/2011: These bad boys are going to my little (okay she's totally 15 and no longer little) cousin for Christmas this year. Cute little warmers they are. I ended up not putting in the thumb or contrasting yarn because I liked them how they were. I like simplicity, people.

Jan 23: House Scarves (Hogwarts)

The last day of Hogwarts week is here, that is quite hard to believe! I am officially three full weeks into Crochet Every Day, that is crazy! This is a fun pattern because it has options for all of the different houses. We have Lion Brand to thank for this pattern. Haven't you all missed them this week? haha They are a bit lacking in the Harry Potter themed projects!

Jan 22: Cauldron Pin Cushion (Hogwarts)

Another pattern from the lovely Pren at Wilcox Wizard Wares. How cute is this tiny little cauldron? And it looks like lots of gold galleons are stowed away inside (I'm probably going to be kicked out of any fan clubs because galleons are probably copper or something - I'm no pro with the Gringotts banking system).

Here is Pren's picture:

Jan 21: Luna Lovegood Scarf (Hogwarts)

Pattern #21: Luna Lovegood Scarf

Another Ravelry find - the scarf worn by Luna Lovegood in the movie series. I love how different it is. At some point I really need to stop commenting on how different things are from the standard single crochet patterns. haha This would be beautiful in any color!

This is a picture from the movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I believe, as captured by PinkLeo:

Jan 20: Gryffindor Beanie (Hogwarts) - COMPLETED

Pattern #20: Gryffindor Beanie

This pattern was created by my Ravelry friend Pren, over at Wilcox Wizard Wares. She has some awesome crochet patterns, many of which are Harry Potter related. I am excited to try this Gryffindor beanie, because it is different than the other Hogwarts beanies that I made! I bet I could get Matt to wear it if it wasn't in Hogwarts colors. haha

-----------

Updated 1/23/2012: I made this hat for our friend who is undergoing chemo. Yes, this is the third hat for her. I love the color combo. Remember it from the Granny Beanie? Anywho... Here are my pictures with it before we gave it to her. And yes, it is totally reversible!

See my awesome bandaid? I burned my arm with a cookie sheet. Blerg!

Reversible!

Not sure why, but Matt was getting a look!

Jan 19: Golden Snitch (Hogwarts)

Pattern #19: Golden Snitch

The third installment of our Harry Potter series is also small. How cute is this Golden Snitch? Is it practical? Not in the least - but it is very cute! I found this on Ravelry as well. Who am I going to give this to? Maybe I will have to participate in one of those Harry Potter swaps.

Jan 18: Mini Dobby Socks (Hogwarts)

Pattern #18: Mini Dobby Socks

This is the second of our Harry Potter series. I found this in a Harry Potter search on Ravelry. Note to self: pick up knitting before searching again - so many more knitting patterns! Anywho, another small pattern, but also very cute! Do you all remember Dobby? He had a much bigger role in the books - I liked him better in the books as well.

Jan 17: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans (Hogwarts) - COMPLETE

Welcome to the newest week over here at crochet every day! I have decided to venture into the magical world of Hogwarts - because I love Harry Potter! This project is super easy and I can't even remember when or how I came across it.  I plan to make it once I have a bunch of scraps. What else do I have in store for Hogwarts week (and this is one of two)? Come back and see!

----------------------

Updated 3/16/2011:  I made these for the Iron Craft challenge - in the movies.  It was a fun project that used up little bits of yarn.  You could easily make tons of these little jelly beans for your kid to play with.  Since I don't have kids yet, I'm just going to avoid making more! haha

Jan 16: Newborn Newsie Hat -- COMPLETED

Pattern #16: Newborn Newsie Hat

I originally posted a granny skull hat here, but I posted it again... so I'm adding a new pattern. This newsie hat is adorable! I can't wait to make one!

-----------

Updated March 5, 2013: A friend asked me to make this for her little boy. I finished it up really quickly (oh the joys of thick yarn)! And got it in the mail. She sent me this picture a few days after he was born. Precious. And -- it fits! I took a few pictures of my own... but we will see if I ever get to adding them. For now, this is perfect! Boom! I finally have my pictures to share!! (And it's only April 9... a month later  lol)

Jan 15: Cable Hat (Hat Week) - COMPLETED

Pattern #15: Cable Hat

This hat was created by the same Ravelry user as yesterday's pattern, Rheatheylia. I love the cable knit in crochet. It looks so much more challenging that it actually is. The cable stitch just takes some getting used to! What color should I make this one?

--------

8/15/10
I found out a day before we got to Mexico that we would be celebrating Shaina's birthday upon our arrival.  I was at a loss of what to make her, but had some pink yarn in my bag.  (I was in route from San Fran to Mexico via my house for a quick night).  Luckily, I had this pattern with me.  I love the way the hat turned out, and Shaina loves it too.  And that is what counts, right?

Jan 14: Divine Hat (Hat Week) - COMPLETED

Pattern #14: Divine Hat

This is another pattern that I found through Ravelry. I love how different it is from the standard double crochet beanie. The author is Rheatheylia and I love what she does. I am going to use a few of her patterns here.

Occasionally, I will not have to post the author's picture, because I will have already completed the project. This is definitely the case here. I started this beanie right around the first of the year and finished it on the 8th. I really like how it turned out. Now do I keep it or give it away or sell it on etsy? Also, I need to get my wonderful hubby to take some pics for me - these were with my phone!

Jan 13: Durango + Robin's Egg Blue - COMPLETED

Pattern #13: Durango & Robin's Egg Blue

This is a pattern that I found a few months back (on a blog, simplebeans.blogspot.com,and then recently on Ravelry - in fact, Jenni is the one who introduced me to Ravelry - I really need to thank her for that!) and have been wanting to try out. Well that's not true, I tried it, but I stitched a bit too tight and there is now way it would fit me... so I unraveled it. hahaha My goal is to make this correctly. How cute is this hat?

------

Updated 2/14/2011: I finished the hat and made a second one the next day!  It was much easier than I originally thought.  I must have used a better hook size or something!  I made a green one (with Vanna's Choice yarn) for myself and a bright pink one (with some yarn that I found for $2 at Michaels who's name I cannot remember) for my good friend Jen.  So happy with how they turned out!  [And yes, I took these pictures real quick the night I finished them as well haha]

I love the buttons!  So fun!

Jan 12: Reversible Strands (Hat Week) - COMPLETED

Pattern #12: Reversible Strands

Nancy Smith created this great pattern and posted it on Ravelry. This was my hat of choice for the 2009 Christmas season. I made one for Matt in Maroon and Grey, another for Davis in Green & Gold, and then 2 more for Fortunas. I will make one more during these next 4 years, so as to make this fair (I mean it's not fair if I just keep posting things that I have already done and don't make new things). This time, I will make one for me!

------------------

Updated August 21,2 014: I'm definitely calling this one completed. I made so many of these hats over the years!!

Jan 11: Olivia's Butterfly (Hat Week) - COMPLETED

Pattern #11: Olivia's Butterfly

I found this pattern from another blogger. I love it when bloggers make their own patterns. She made this for her daughter, and it is gorgeous! She has many other beautiful patterns too. Check her out. She's my new friend on Ravelry too.

I made this one on December 26, 2009. I used a 4 yarn, and I believe she called for a 3. I also added about 3 or 4 extra round 6s. My goal was to make one with her exact pattern, which is how we ended up with the second round of butterfly beanies. But this one is mine, and I kept it, and I love it!

I made 3 more butterfly beanies in February. I sent 2 of them down to the Ranch and sold one to a coworker. I followed the directions for the first, but it made the beanie a little short. So for the ranch girls (they are older, the coworkers daughter is only 2) I added a few rows before making the butterfly. The other beanies (somehow I forgot to take pictures of one of them):

Jan 10: Newsboy Hat (Hat Week)

Pattern #10: Newsboy Hat

This is a pattern that I found at Lion Brand.  I really like how different it is from your basic beanie.  This seems like something from the Newsies - maybe I need to give it to Lisa, she loves that movie!  Now what color?  Maybe an earthy color?

Jan 9: Fashion Scarf (Scarf Week) - COMPLETED

Pattern #9: Fashion Scarf

One last Red Heart find (can you tell that I found Red Heart later than the Lion Brand - they are all in a row. haha I will work on spreading out the "yarn specific" patterns later).  This ends Scarf Week.  Stay tuned for next week - Beanies!  I am stretching myself because originally I made basic single crochet beanies and scarves.  Following a pattern is how I am growing.  Let me know if you (I say this thinking that no one is reading this) have anything you would like to see!

--------------------

Updated June 10, 2014: I finished this scarf in January as a gift for my mother in love. I used two strands of lightweight yarn to make it. I LOVE how it turned out!
