Giraffe-tastic

This post has been awhile in the making. I actually made these back in February / March. My sister in law is pregnant with my first niece or nephew and I have not been able to stop making things for him / her. Thankfully, they aren't finding out what he or she is, so I can only do so much. They said that the nursery theme was animals, like giraffes and pandas. So I decided to crochet a few giraffe things.

First I made this amigurumi giraffe from Lion Brand. I love how the little guy turned out. Although, I feel like I have to tell people that he is a giraffe. hahaha

Next up I created my own giraffe hat! That's right. I made a pattern. I saw a few things that I liked in pinterest, but not the exact pattern. So I just went for it. I'm working on typing it up, if you are interested! I'm kind of in love with it!

Any other animal things that I should make for my new niece or nephew?

Inspiration: Sue Sylvester

When I found this Sue doll over on Craft is Cool, I knew I had to share it with you guys!  It combines two things I love:  Glee and crochet!  Check her out:

Allison makes some super amazing things, I am constantly in awe of the celebs she recreates!  I am sharing her image with you all.  Happy Thursday!

December 8: Snowman

Pattern # 341:  Snowman

Finally -- I'm posting the right pattern on the right day!  Sorry for the confusion, dear readers.  I was in Hawaii for 10 days then Mexico for a weekend.  It was busy busy busy at the Nadalet house!

December 7: Christmas Mouse Ornament

Pattern # 341:  Christmas Mouse Ornament

How cute is this little guy?  So cute!

Also, it's Pearl Harbor day.  Crazy that I was taught so little about it in school as a child.  If you want to read my thoughts on it / pictures from my visit to the memorial, check out Newly Wife this afternoon.  The post should be up sometime soon.

December 6: Reindeer - COMPLETED

Pattern # 340:  Reindeer

Day 2 of Christmas amigurumi is upon us, with this incredibly cute reindeer from Lion Brand.  My coffee & crochet date friend showed me this pattern last year and I absolutely adore it!

-----------------

Updated November 21, 2011: I finished this little guy and I love him! I made this guy early, so he is ready for our Christmas decorations this year! I really cannot get over how cute he is. The hubs says that his nose should be red, so I may have to change that (easy enough to do). The cats are a little freaked out by Rudy -- they gave his face some playful swats last night! Also, how cute is that little sticker label? I just love the apps that are available for my iphone!

December 5: Holiday Penguin - COMPLETED

Pattern # 339:  Holiday Penguin

This week is full of holiday amigurumi patterns (sorry for being a day late with this!).  I love Christmas, so that's why this month is ALL about Christmas!  This penguin is going to be a gift for my friend who LOVES penguins.  No idea when she is gonna get it though!

------------------

Updated 12/1/2011: My friend should be receiving that penguin any day now! I shipped it out on Monday! I really like sending gifts in the mail. It is a total unexpected surprise. :) I love how the little guy turned out, and I hope she does too. My only complaint - I felt like I did not stuff him enough. Matt said it was fine, and not worth detaching the head to restuff. Hopefully that was the right call!

I could not decide which picture I liked best, so you get all three!

July 20: Cupcake

Pattern #201: Cupcake

I love sweets. And these sweets are sugar free. hehe. Ana Paula has created some amazing amigurumi patterns for her books, Amigurumi World and Amigurumi 2! Lucky for us, this cute cupcake pattern is free!

July 2: Jacob Wolf

Pattern #183: Jacob Wolf Amigurumi

You need to modify this pattern just a bit to make it Twilight-esque, but it's only by changing the yarn colors. You will need to change the gray yarn to russet brown. Then you will have your own little Jacob - in wolf form!

Pattern #182: Cody the Count

This is actually a Volturi... can't you tell? haha This Lion Brand pattern for Halloween fits perfectly into our vampire week. What do you think? Will you make this cute guy?

May 1: Jellyfish

Pattern #121: Jellyfish

I have no idea what I will do with a crocheted jellyfish... but how fun is this pattern? This is another one from Hannah at Bittersweet. I love her patterns because she chooses such unique animals to crochet. It's not just your standard teddy bear and bunny rabbit.. it's alligators and beavers and jellyfish!

Apr 30: Hippo

Pattern #120: Hippo

This cute lil guy is just screaming to be crocheted. Kristie (who also created yesterday's mouse pattern) says he was a challenge, so we will see what happens when I attempt to make this little guy!

Apr 29: Mouse

Pattern #119: Mouse

This is another pattern from Kristie, which she posted at Crochetville. I think the little mice are just too cute. This picture would be more fitting with a crocheted block of cheese, don't you think?

Apr 28: Snoopy

Pattern #118: Snoopy
I found this pattern awhile back and thought of my Dad -- he is a big Snoopy fan. I am not sure what he would do with a stuffed Snoopy, but I bet someone would appreciate it! haha

Apr 27: Bear in a Jif

Pattern #117: Bear in a Jif

This is another Lion Brand pattern. Technically it's a Christmas pattern, but if you take off the scarf, it's just a teddy bear. And how cute is he?

Apr 26: Birds of a Feather

Pattern #116: Birds of a Feather

This cute little pattern is another Bittersweet one. I love the bright colors that she used for the birds. These would be perfect in a Springtime home!

Pattern #65: Pig

And now we end this week with one last Lion Brand pattern. This little guy is cute like a little roly poly piggie. He kinda reminds me of a piggy bank!

Mar 5: Baby Birds in a Nest (Amigurumi)

Pattern #64: Baby Birds in a Nest

This Lion Brand pattern will make you say "awwww." This would be perfect for a Springtime decoration in the house. I just have to throw in the pattern for the Mama Bird. It wouldn't be a complete set without her!

Mar 4: Beaver (amigurumi)

Pattern #63: Beaver

Another pattern from Hannah. She makes the cutest crocheted things ever, and is so sweet to share her patterns with the rest of us! I have no idea what I will do with this beaver, but it is just too cute! What colleges have a beaver mascot? Maybe this would make a great gift for a grad from there, or a high school senior who is going there...
