September 30: Darwin Hat - COMPLETED

Pattern # 273: Darwin Hat

This hat is super cute, I think I am going to make it for myself... or a cousin... or a friend... or someone I love.... or someone in need!  haha  What color?

--------------
Updated August 6, 2012: Sometimes I forget that I need to go up a hook size or two for Lion Brand patterns. This one definitely was no exception. However, I was crocheting it on a road trip (it's part of my Ravellenic Games challenge) and I decided to just go with it. It is small, but that just means I can give it away, right?
This picture definitely showcases the true color of the hat.

Completed Project!!

I am realizing that I will not be able to post about many completed projects soon -- they are all going to be Christmas gifts!  So this blog will have a major update come January!  But I can share this one.  I'm still not sold on this sweater, but it looks cute in this picture.  It is going to have to wait until it is really cold though, and I can wear it with a long sleeve shirt.  I think it will look better that way! But I wanted to get a picture up anyways!

Crocheting clothing was not much harder than crocheting anything else, but I think I was a bit more picky -- I can see many flaws right now.  And guage is ESSENTIAL!  Tell me, have any of you made clothing before?  Did you feel a major sense of pride and accomplishment?

If you are interested, you can check out my Ravelry Project page, or the orignal (and now updated) post on Crochet Every Day!

September 29: Granny Skull Hat - COMPLETE

Pattern #272:  Granny Skull Hat

How cute is this little hat?  Apparently it is really easy too, so I need to make my own soon!  Thanks for the pattern Chelle!

-------------

Updated January 10, 2012: I made this for our friend who is undergoing chemo. I used super soft yarn so it will be comfy on her head. Her husband says she likes earth tones, so I went with green and brown. I think it turned out really well!

September 28: Newsboy Cap

Pattern # 271:  Newsboy Cap

This is soooo my sister Lisa's style.  I think she may get one of these for Christmas.  Or her birthday.  Or something.  :)  Happy Tuesday!

September 27: Openwork Crochet Hat - COMPLETED

Pattern #270:  Openwork Crochet Hat

Before I start talking about this hat, I need to say something.  Happy Birthday to my wonderful little bro.  I know he doesn't read this blog.  But I just wanted to say I love him and I am so proud of him.  I only wish I was closer to him in vicinity, so we could celebrate together!  Love you Big D!
Now, back to our regularly scheduled crochet talk... this hat is gorgeous.  Am I right?  I think one of my sister's would LOVE it!

---------------

Updated 12/13/2011: I made this for my cousin who just informed me that she doesn't really wear hats (but she requested one last year). What to do with it now? haha  I actually had to go up two hook sizes (to an L) with this one, and totally change the top. Many people on Ravelry said it was pointy if you followed the LB instructions. So I skipped rounds 7 & 8, and then basically did clusters w/ a ch1 on each 3 dc of round 12. Then I used the yarn end to sew it up tight. I only wove through the outside loops of the top stitches, to make it lie flat.  I hope that made sense! I think I had to go up two hook sizes because my yarn is older and seems thinner than a regular worsted yarn. My verdict is still out on how much I like this hat...

And yes, I took this picture in the bathroom at work. I also totally hit myself with a phone at work, resulting in a little red spot under my eye. Oh yeah, and then I proceded to spill coffee down my sleeve. It's been a long day!

September 26: Autumn Harvest Hat - COMPLETE

Pattern # 269:  Autumn Harvest Hat

Technically, it is fall.  Although the 108 degree heat yesterday would tell you differently.  But I will start another week of beanies anyways.  It is supposed to cool down after Tuesday.  That's the "peak," but I cannot really handle much more heat.  Oh how I miss the crisp fall days of Nor Cal...  :(  anywho, first beanie of the week...

-----------

Edited 4/25/2011:  I finished this beanie in about an hour or two yesterday.   I used Lion Brand Thick & Quick yarn in Cilantro, I believe, or maybe Grass Green.  Whatever color, it is pretty dang cute!  It is a child size though, it can stretch to fit my head,  but looks REALLY goofy!  I'm planning to sell this at my Craft Fair!

September 25: Midsummer Moon Doily - COMPLETED

Pattern # 268:  Midsummer Moon Doily

It's our last doily pattern.  I do have something fun lined up for next week. Okay, so it's just another week of beanies. But I'm thinking of doing some giveaways.  What do you think?  Would you be interested in that??

----------------
Updated 8/23/2011:  This bad boy is finished.  It only took me about a month, off and on.   I love how it turned out, but I should have blocked it better.  Oh well.  Iron and starch will do wonders when Easter arrives and it is time for it to be on display again.  :)

September 24: Touch of Irish Doily

Pattern # 267:  Touch of Irish Doily

Oh how I love doilys.  Can you tell?  Now -- I just need to courage to make some!  My time is currently occupied by baby booties (they are supposed to look like motorcycle boots for my friend's baby's Halloween costume) and a blanket (a Christmas request from the in-laws... see, I'm getting started early!).

September 23: Spider Web Doily #2 - COMPLETED

Pattern # 266:  Spider Web Doily #2

I just realized that it is only 13 weeks until Christmas.  Wow.  That means I have a lot of crocheting to do and a little time.  Okay, a lot of time.  But I feel like I have TONS to crochet.  And in case you were wondering, I still have a few years to complete projects from all of the patterns on the blog.  When I started, I knew I would not be able to complete a crocheted item every day.  Maybe if I wasn't working.  Or being a wife.  Or... yeah.... lots of things get in the way.  So I gave myself this year to post a pattern every single day, and then until 2014 to have everything completed.  So my first year of crocheted goodness is almost done, and I will have 4 years left once 2011 begins!!  It would be AWESOME if I could finish by like 2012, but I doubt it!

Other random thoughts.  I was thinking of doing a crochet-along.  I did one for the La Push! Blanket and really enjoyed it.  I liked having a deadline.  I also think it would be a fun way for us to get to know each other better.  What do you all think?  I plan to make it something easy, like an ornament or fall decoration.  But I'm not sure.  Would you be interested? Do you have any pattern ideas?  Let me know in the comments!

Oh yeah, and today's pattern is a sweet little doily!  :)

-----------------------------

Updated 3/23/2011:  It is finished!  I love how this doily came out!  And I definitely prefer the spiderweb type doily to the pineapple.  It takes so much less time! haha

September 22: Hearts Doily - COMPLETED

Pattern # 265:  Hearts Doily

I love hearts.  It's just a fact.  So it makes sense that I would love this doily!  What about you?  Do you love hearts too?  Or is a certain type of flower more your thing?

---------------

Updated on August 1, 2104: This doily was the perfect plane project. I crocheted it on my way to Chicago and back. It turned out super cute. I love the rows of hearts! As always, blocking just makes each part (the hearts and the pineapples) stand out so much better!

September 21: Cluster Stitch Doily - COMPLETED

Pattern # 264:  Cluster Stitch Doily

How gorgeous is this bad boy?  Very gorgeous, very intricate.  I tried to pick up my hook and make one of these, but chickened out.  I blamed the head cold, said I could not process such tiny stitches.. hehe
------------------------------

Updated 3/21/2013: I finished this last October. It was a birthady gift for my mom. She loves it. It did take me forever to finish it, but I am really happy with how it turned out. The pictures do not do it justice!

September 20: Green Leaf Doily

Pattern # 263:  Green Leaf Doily

I love the way the two colors are entertwined in this project (the white or neutral background doily, and the soft green leaves).  So very fetch!  Sorry the picture is kinda crappy -- means I need to get mine done soon!

September 19: Rose Doily

Pattern # 262:  Rose Doily

It's doily week!  Major thanks to my mother for requesting these... and encouraging me to find these awesome patterns!  This would be gorgeous with colored roses.. I'm thinking bright red!

September 18: Aphrodite Shawl

Pattern # 261:  Aphrodite Shawl

This is a gorgeous shawl, isn't it?  I absolutely love it and think I will keep it if I make it.  Is that selfish?  haha

September 17: Easy Doily - COMPLETED

Pattern # 260:  Easy Doily [no idea why, but the link is not working, and I can't find the pattern anywhere else.  So sorry!  But glad I printed it out last year!]  Try this link.

Remember when I warned you about all of the upcoming doily patterns?  Well it is not yet doily week, but know that it is most definitely near!  This pattern is from the American Thread Company in 1956.  I think it is so cool that we still have access to patterns over 50 years old -- it really connects me with my roots! haha

------------------

Edited 3/1/2011:  I am finally finished!  I started this doily in October and it has been one of those nagging projects ever since!  It was a great project to bring to Hawaii (fit in my carryon and all), but then went on the backburner once I got home.  Here is a picture of the completed doily, with a penny to show how large it is!

September 16: Hoodie

Pattern # 259:  Hoodie

This Bernat pattern is pretty sweet, don't you think?  Although, since I felt like my last crocheted sweater is not amazing (but Matt said it looks awesome), I'm a little gun shy at crocheting more clothing.  But I'm gonna have to get over that eventually.  Hope this one turns out better, and that I learn to love my other one!

September 15: Daisy Chain Beanie

Pattern # 258:  Daisy Chain Beanie

I found this sweet pattern from CrochetRoo earlier this year. How cute is it??  I also love that she asks you to make a second one for charity, if you make this beanie.  What a great idea!

September 14: Karisma Granny Square Skirt

Pattern # 257:  Karisma Granny Square Skirt

I love the look of this skirt, with the granny squares along the bottom.  It also looks like it will be solid enough that I do not need to wear another skirt underneath, as is required by most crocheted clothing patterns.  What do you think?  Will you make it?  And do you like the colors.  Personally, I love them!

September 13: Cat & Mouse

Pattern # 256:  Cat & Mouse

Why do I have the feeling that my cats would love to bat around these little mice?  haha I can see it now...  time to get out those crochet hooks!

September 11: Easy as Pie Shrug

Pattern # 254:  Easy As Pie Shrug

I'm a day late, but I swear I'm not a dollar short!  I wish I could say I was reflecting on the significance of this day, but I was just really busy. I'm back tho, and I will hopefully never be late again (my fingers are crossed!)!

September 10: Nightie, Robe, & Slippers

Pattern # 253:  Nightie, Robe, & Slippers

Another pattern from Bizzy Crochet.  I'm not sure I would make it in the color changing yarn, but I do like pattern.  What about you?

September 9: Retro Outfit

Pattern # 252:  Retro Outfit

Have you ever seen the movie Hairspray, you know, the remake of the musical?  Well I rewatched it (the version with Zac Efron) last week and this outfit totally reminds me of her final outfit.  You know, when she flattens her hair & has the new sleek dress?  Yeah, that outfit.  It would be kick-astronaut on your American Girl doll too!
