Surprise Party

This year, Matthew threw me a surprise party for my birthday.  It was a blast.  I do not have pictures until after everyone left, but you can see my cute dress! hahahahha

With my sister, Caitlin

This was on the way.  haha  One hot April day.  Makes the rainy June seem even weirder.

With my Mother in Law.  Fun times.  She created the the signs behind us.  Very cute!

And that was my wonderful husband, who planned this whole thing.  I am so grateful for such a loving, caring man!

Hello and a doily

Wow.  I just realized how may more followers I have!  Thanks guys!  I'm definitely feeling the love :)  So I wanted to share a finished project today.  This one took a few months -- but it has also been on the backburner for the month or so leading up to my craft fair.  This Snowdrop Doily turned out beautiful, for more info you can check out my Ravelry project page.  It ended up super long, as you can see, it barely fit on our coffee table.  But thankfully it was just short enough to fit on my  ironing board -- that's what I use for blocking.  I had to edit the pattern as I only needed 2 rows instead of 3.  It was made to fit a specific area in a friend's home.

Ps.  You should definitely check out Sew Mama Sew's giveaway lists... today is (mostly) the last day to enter!

Giveaway!

I love Sew Mama Sew's giveaway days.  In fact, that is how I came across many of the blogs that I follow -- primarily sewing ones, but a few crocheted ones as well.  When I found out that this year's Spring Giveaway Day was May 23, I knew that I had to participate.  As my readers know, I just had my first Craft Fair.  It was a success and I am really excited to continue growing my business.  I sold a bunch of coffee cozies, coasters, potholders, and beanies.

Today I will be giving away one item from my shop.  Your choice.  Whatever you want is yours!  I am going to be adding a few more items in the next few days, as I have some leftovers from my sale.

I will also be giving away some sort of supply.  Tell me whether you would like some yarn or fabric.  I will see what I can come up with.  It shall be a surprise!!

All you have to do is leave me a comment with your favorite crafty thing at the moment.  Are you into sewing aprons?  Crocheting hats?  Hot glueing some flowers?  I dabble in it all, but am excited to sew myself a few skirts, now that my Craft Fair is over.

Oh yeah, and I will give you an extra entry for telling me what you like in my shop and how to improve it!

Rules & Stuff:  This giveaway contest is open until May 25th at midnight, PST.  My goal is to pick a winner in the few days after that, and mail you the chosen prize within a week.  If you do not get back to me within a week, I reserve the right to give the prize to a new winner.  Oh yeah, and your email must either be displayed through blogger or left in the comments.  I don't want to spend days trying to track you down!  You have three ways to win:
  1. Leave a comment telling me what creative outlet you are loving right now.
  2. Leave a comment telling me what you like / needs improvement in my shop.
  3. Leave a comment if you are a follower (on blogger or through a feeedreader, etc)
Remember, each comment is an entry.  One comment with multiple answers is only one entry.  Good luck, and I hope you stick around awhile!

Finished Hats

I have a few hats to share with you today.  First up, May 12:  In Bloom Hat.  I made a few of these, and I really like them!  Deciding which buttons to put on is the hardest part!  I used Red Heart Fiesta yarn, I believe!

Next, August 18:  Deeply Textured Hat.  This hat is definitely a winner in our home.  The hubs wants one of his own -- says it is the most comforable hat that I have ever made!  I made one masculine one and a second feminine one.  I used the brim of the In Bloom hat for the second hat.

Lastly, the September 26: Autumn Harvest Hat.

I am excited to check those off of my list of things to do.  And I created a few new patterns which I cannot wait to share with you!

Easy Skirt

I had a lot of fun making this skirt.  It was my first item of clothing to make for myself.  I used fabric that my awesome friend Genny got for me from Thailand.  I just LOVE the way it turned out.  You can't see in this picture, but I sewed some ric rac on the bottom.  I pretty much used Dana's tutorial.  It was seriously simple.  I actually made a second, similar, one, but with my own improvements. :)  It was my Easter skirt.  I will try to get pictures of it later and share them with you.

I bought a bunch of other fabric with my birthday money.  I cannot wait to make a reversible skirt.  I have a bunch of ideas!

Table Set Up

As evidences by yesterday's post, I am really really excited about my Craft Fair.  My wonderful hubby let me set up my table early -- so I can get everything JUST right! haha I snapped these pictures really quickly, on my way out the door, this morning.

That is an overview of the whole table.   Some things are still in the box below (like napkins for snacks and doubles of some items).  I want to add more height / dimension, but I am not entirely sure how / what to do .  Any suggestions?

This half is accessories.  I have posted patterns for most of these beanies on the blog.  Soon, I will post about each one and which pattern was used -- and how I am checking off more CED patterns!  I love the headbands and have been wearing them non stop.  There are some that are yarn wrapped, and others that are sewn.  Most have flowers, but some do not.

The other half of the table is (mostly) sewn items for the home.  There are coasters and potholders as well as coffee cozies.  I worked really hard on the packaging of each item.  I am still breaking down the price for each one, and I need to make price signs.  Any suggestions on price labels?  Should I use a placecard type pricing system, or maybe a label on a little stick in the baskets / vases?  What do you all do?

Craft Fair

So I have been a very busy bee in my craft room.  This weekend is my first ever craft fair.  I think I mentioned it before, but a few of my friends will be setting up shop at my house and trying to sell our goods!  I am soooo excited!  Needless to say... my sewing machine, glue gun, and crochet hooks have not stopped moving in the last month.  Since I post about every other day at Newly Wife, I have not had time to come over here very often.  But I do have a lot to come soon, including a few patterns!

Here is a box full of stuff that I will be selling:

And these are some headbands in progress!  They are now completely sewn, with a few waiting for flowers!

Whatever does not sell on Saturday will be listed on my etsy.  So stay tuned!
