Food, Crochet, and New Shoes

Life just keeps moving on... More Insta-randomness

Making a bunch of breakfast sandwiches for Matt's last two weeks of school.
I made like 12 of them. Wrapped each in a paper towel and then put in a ziploc and froze.

The ripple blanket is coming along nicely (although I have about 5 current projects)

Im obsessed with cute sandals, I've recently added four pairs to my closet!

This was the result of a long night of heat pressing...

Apricot Jam! Is it bad to stick them in the fridge to make them seal / pop?

There you have it. Random life of mine. In case you were wondering, the jam was super tasty, I've given most of it away though -- I should have saved more!

Burgers, Cats & Smog

Random title? Random post! I wanted to share these pictures from a few weeks ago...

Happy Friday!  Today's pattern is a pretty purple eggplant.  I still do not know what to do with them cooking wise, but they sure would look cute in our cornucopia!

It's another food week over here at Crochet Every Day.  I think I told you all that I finally got that book, Tasty Crochet.  Yeah.  Love it.  Still trying to find fun, free patterns for you all though.  It has been hard to put that book down, in order to make stuff from here.  That's part of the challenge though -- keeping myself motivated to finish!

Updated June 5, 2014: There is just something wonderful about a sandwich. The crisp bite of the lettuce, the tartness of a pickle, and the softness of two pieces of bread. You cannot really replicate that in crochet, but I gave it my best shot! Well, minus the pickles!

It's another food week over here at Crochet Every Day, and I'm excited to share this donut recipe with you. It's low sugar and low cal. hehe I love crochet food... not sure why... but I do! Maybe I am more excited about it because of my new book - Tasty Crochet. It's a lot of fun!

Ravelry Designers

In honor of fruit week, I am sharing this designer from Ravelry. I can't list her patterns here, because I only list free patterns here. hehe But I have to give her a shoutout. If I ever break down and buy patterns, hers will be up high on the list! (the other is this super cute amigurumi Nativity Scene). Anywho, check out Melbangel and let me know if you would crochet anything from her. And yes, you have to be a Ravelry member to check her out. But here are some pics (all hers) of my favorites:

My Ravelry searching also let me to another pattern designer. Sky Magenta. She has some amazing stuff as well. I mean, if you do not have a Ravelry account, get one so that you can see her stuff. Freaking fantastic. Then again, you can always check her out on her own site. I tried to figure out if anyone had actually done her patterns. There were no projects on Ravelry. But there were over 1000 sold on her etsy, so people have to have crocheted these things. I would like you, if you read this, to put your finished project on Ravelry so I can see what those of us humans (aka not super crocheters like her) can do! I liked food week so much, that I decided to do it again, but this time a bit healthier. This week is fruit / veggie week! This sweet pattern set was another Ravelry find, from designer Patti Gonsalves. My family loves Hawaii and it's food - so this little set is perfect. I really need to find someone to give all of this play food to! haha

Pattern #58: Movie Munchies

I love all of the patterns that Beansprout has made. She's the one behind that hamburger yesterday. If you have a Ravelry account, definitely check out all of her work here. This would be a fun little set if you had a movie night -- great ambiance! You could put the movie case right next to the popcorn tub with popcorn & take a picture for an invitation!

Updated August 17, 2014: Okay this is seriously the cutest pattern ever. I love how it all turned out. The patterns from Beansprout are amazing. They always end up turning out well! Time for a movie night, right??

Feb 26: Hot Dog (Food) - COMPLETED

Pattern #57: Hot Dog

How much do we all love Hannah over at Bittersweet? This cute hot dog is her creation -- and she's a vegan, so this is probably the only kind that she will touch! I have to agree though, while cheap, hot dogs are rather disgusting! This would be fun for a boy's kitchen - now we just need to find patterns for BBQ tools and hamburgers. Actually, check out this pattern for a hamburger. It costs $2, but it would totally be worth it if you had a little boy and some free time to crochet it up!

It is time for a healthy food item, right? Well I think pears are pretty dang healthy - and tasty too! These would be fun to add to a crocheted fruit basket or something. Now I just need to find patterns for the rest of the fruits! This pattern was created by crochetroo. I suggest you wander around her blog, as she has some other beautiful patterns too!

Updated 10/3/2011:  I actually changed this pattern, because Planet June had a Crochet Along for her pear pattern.  I wanted to be in on the fun, so I used her pattern instead.  Find it here.  And here are a few pictures of mine...

Lastly, as I picked out a set of coasters for a friend's weeding gift, I thought my pear would look perfect on the perfect pear coaster! haha

It's donut time! This little guy was super fast to whip up! It's also the same base pattern as the iced donut. [In all honesty, I only made one base. First I glued on the "icing" and then when I realized it was the same, I just made the frosting and sewed it over. I didn't need two donuts!] Also, I just saw the cutest versions on Ravelry with sprinkles on top. I really should look at Ravelry BEFORE I make / finish a project!
