Unraveling....

Sometimes I'll be working on one of these projects and I just don't like it. So I take a pic, call it done, and unravel. It's just not worth my time to finish something I'll never wear or use. Here are a couple of those projects (and one that I finished).

August 3: Rainbow Bright Blanket. I wanted to like this blanket. Obviously I kept going for awhile, but I just couldn't get into it. So last night I made the decision to unravel. I feel so much better now. Let's breathe a sigh of relief and focus on the other, much cuter, blanket that I'm working on!

 

January 8: Bubblegum Scarf. This one was fun, but again I just could not get into it. It was a Christmas gift for a friend and after a few rows I decided it was just not right. Maybe the yarn was too stiff, and it would have looked cool with a soft loose stitch, but it was just too big and bulky with the yarn I use. Oh and hey, there's one of my sidekicks!

 

Lastly, the January 7: Winter Wear Scarf. I finished this one just in time to wrap and give to a friend. So this is the only picture I got. It's cute, but pretty much identical to the basket weave scarf (except this one was sets of three not single basket weaves)! hahaha

 

That brings me to 161 completed projects. Not even close to halfway, and I finished the goal year. But it's okay. I can still chip away at my list of projects. :) How often do you just unravel and start over??

Embellished Scarf

I just looked at the blog and realized I haven't posted since January. JANUARY! Crazy, I know! And it's not that I haven't been crocheting. I've actually been crocheting up a storm. I am trying to finish my goal by this year, after all. I don't think it will happen, but I'm going for a 75% finish rate! Anywho, I just haven't been blogging about my crocheting. So many pictures have been taken, but they just stay on my camera! Whoops! I'm going to try and catch up soon!  For now, I'll leave you with pictures of this finished project. It was a gift for my mother in love this January.

The yarn was picked by my mother in love to match a sweater that she has. I love the contrasting snowflake, because it is not the expected flower. Also, it wraps around, which I forgot to get a picture of!

Carlisle Cullen's Baseball Scarf Pattern

This pattern has been over a year in the making, so you can imagine how excited I am to share it with you today! So excited that I made it a second post today instead of waiting til tomorrow! It does not take a year to make, I just got distracted by other projects and put it on the backburner. I wish I had finished it earlier though, because it is just so dang cute! Be forewarned -- this has a lot of weaving in. No two rows are the same color and you cannot carry over the yarn, so you have to weave in the beginning and end of each row.

Carlisle's Scarf



Materials:
Size H Hook (I crochet really tight, so use whatever works best for you)
Yarn Needles (for weaving in those really irritating ends, and there will be a lot)
Sport or Worsted Size Yarn in Black, Grey, and White (less than 1 skein each)

Abbreviation meanings:
Rnd: round
FC(sc): Foundation Chain, Single Crochet

FC (hdc): Foundation Chain, Half Double Crochet

sc: Single Crochet
hdc: Half Double Crochet
FO: Fasten off

Rnd1 (White): 16 FC(sc), 220 FC(hdc), 16 FC(sc). FO. Turn. (this is going to be the length of your scarf, so make sure it is the exact length you want).
Rnd2 (Grey): 16 FC(sc), sc into 1st FC(hdc) (17th stitch), hdc through all FC(hdc), 16 FC(sc). FO. Turn.
Rnd3 (Black): 16 FC(sc), sc across hdc (220 sc), 16 FC(sc). FO. Turn.
Rnd4 (White): 16 FC (sc), sc into 1st sc, hdc across through all sc (219 sc), 16 FC(sc). FO. Turn.
Rnd5 (Grey):  Repeat Round 4
Rounds 6 - 20: Repeat rounds 3 through 5 in the same order
Rnd21 (Black): Repeat round 3.

You are now done. You just have a million rows to weave in! I chose to use a FC for the beginning and end of each row just looks too thin if you only chain. Need help with stitche? There you have it. This beautifully striped scarf. I LOVE it so much! I'm not as Twilight crazy as I used to be, but I still like the scarf!

Scarf in the Snow

Whenever I say "in the snow," I think, "en der Schnee."  That's German.  I guess some things from my stint in Austria stuck with me! haha  A few weeks ago I did a photoshoot for my friend.  At the end, I asked her to take a few pictures of me in the fabulous new jacket she brought (which I subsequently bought from her and took home, it was $10 from Goodwill) and a scarf [Jan 4: Starter Scarf] that I made last year.  You can barely see the scarf, but it is much better than the pics from before.  Here are a few pictures from our fun day!  Major thanks to Lauriana at Fortuna Photography for these photos!

Wondering why you cannot click on the pattern link? Well, the pattern is not yet created. I have found many cool Twilight patterns that do not yet have crochet versions. I looked at this scarf and decided it would be a pretty easy switch. That and the pattern I planned on posting, Edward & Bella & Jacob finger puppets, seemed a bit weird and I knew I would not want them once completed! But if you still want to see that pattern, let me know and maybe I will post it later this week.

June 28: Rosalie's Scarf (Twilight)

Pattern #179: Rosalie's Scarf

This is our next Twilight project. Rosalie wore this scarf in the cafeteria scene in the first Twilight movie. I have found many knit versions of this pattern, but this is the only crochet version.

Feb 9: Conversation Heart Scarf (Love)

Pattern #40: Conversation Heart Scarf

This pattern is very similar to the 100 flowers scarf (yes I have it written as flowers scarf, but I realized it is actually called 100 flowers), as requested by Lisa. This scarf was designed by Pepperberry and I can't wait to make it! I think I am going to stick to the basic pastels that she used, to make it look genuine. But the real test - should I stitch on some of the wording? Like "Call me" or my favorite, "Marry Me?" I can't wait to get started on this one!

Lisa, my sister in law, found this pattern from Applehead and requested that I post it on my blog. How cute is this pattern? And yet, why do I have a feeling that she wants me to make this for her? haha Now - what color palette should I use for those pesky flowers?

The last day of Hogwarts week is here, that is quite hard to believe! I am officially three full weeks into Crochet Every Day, that is crazy! This is a fun pattern because it has options for all of the different houses. We have Lion Brand to thank for this pattern. Haven't you all missed them this week? haha They are a bit lacking in the Harry Potter themed projects!

One last Red Heart find (can you tell that I found Red Heart later than the Lion Brand - they are all in a row. haha I will work on spreading out the "yarn specific" patterns later).  This ends Scarf Week.  Stay tuned for next week - Beanies!  I am stretching myself because originally I made basic single crochet beanies and scarves.  Following a pattern is how I am growing.  Let me know if you (I say this thinking that no one is reading this) have anything you would like to see!

Updated June 10, 2014: I finished this scarf in January as a gift for my mother in love. I used two strands of lightweight yarn to make it. I LOVE how it turned out!
