Giraffe & Snowman

Good Afternoon! I've been busy crocheting lately. That Flowers in the Snow blanket is coming along quite nicely. Granted, it has been put aside for the moment in the name of gifts to be created, but really, it is quite beautiful!

I made this adorable little giraffe awhile back. There was no real reason other than I thought the pattern was cute and I wanted to use up scraps (the blanket wasn't using them up as fast as I thought). Unsurprisingly this did not use up many of the scraps either. Still, I love this guy and am totally saving him for a future child. This one won't be a gift.

It already looks at home on the couch, with the fleece blanket, quilt, and afghan! I am a woman of many talents (although the quilt was totally made for me, I am not that talented)!

Lastly, I whipped up this snowman ornament in an afternoon. It was a CED project (November 30) and became a gift for a fire wife sister. Fun. Right?

Winner!

Hello! I have failed to announce the giveaway winner, Linda. My apologies. I have been trying to find some cute current project pics to pass along, but there are not many. Here is a pic of a hexagon granny blanket that I finished (real pics on the computer, fail). My bad.

I also made and some Seuss-esque burp rags and a tag blanket for a friend. Love it.

What have you been up to?

29 before I'm 29

Recently my friend made a list of 30 before 30. Basically thirty things she wanted to see or do before she turned thirty years old. I thought it was cute. I wanted to copy her. Then I realized that would give me two year and four months. Far too long. So 29 before 29 was born. And yes, some of them do overlap with my 2013 goals. But it's cool. They're my goals and my things to do! These are more of fun things though, and my goals were like life / daily things. So, in no particular order, my 29 before I'm 29:
  1. Sew a Dress.
  2. Make Macaroons AND Meringues.
  3. Run a 5k (ha!).
  4. Finish Reading / Discussing with Shelly Created to be his Help Meet.
  5. Stay at a Bed & Breakfast.
  6. Travel for our 5th Anniversary.
  7. Pay Off One of our Loans.
  8. Get a New Tattoo (I have known what I wanted for like 4 years!)
  9. Sell Some of my Yarn (I have a bunch of stuff I don't need in my craft room)
  10. Knit Something (anything!)
  11. Start my new blog. (Possibly FireWifey?)
  12. Finish Guest Bathroom (it's been a two year remodel)
  13. Go Whale Watching
  14. Go to a Wine Bar with Matt (or Friends)
  15. Chalk Dye my Hair!
  16. Knott's Berry Farm Trip
  17. Eat Lamb
  18. Lord of the Rings Marathon (why not?)
  19. Do One Project with my Instagram Pics
  20. Read the WHOLE Bible
  21. Complete the 21 Day Sugar Detox (I'm actually on day 13 right now!)
  22. Cheese Tasting in Temecula
  23. Save Up for a Food Processor
  24. Visit Alcatraz (I lived in the Bay Area for 18 years and never went)
  25. Downsize Magazine Stacks in Craft Room
  26. Have a Baby (yup, I just put it out there. No. I'm not pregnant)
  27. Make Family Yearbooks (2007-2012)
  28. Make a Mojito
  29. Wine Chair Cushions (I've been meaning to make them for like 2 years)
Think I can do it? What surprised you the most? Anything you want to do or accomplish before your next birthday?

October

October was not full of milestones, but regular, daily life. I look back at the photos and remember certain, not necessarily related, things. For instance, the picture of Matt with the cookie butter reminds me that I was avoiding gluten, and he was actually trying to keep me from eating it! I forgot how incredibly disasterous my fabric was, because it is still nice and neat (yay for keeping it that way for four months)! And our kittens are always entertaining. That pot by the front door is their favorite place to hang out -- we are trying to figure out if there is a way to grow anything in there!

And this, my friends, is where I stick my giant foot in my mouth. October was not a quiet month full of day-to-day routine things, it was crazy busy. And I forgot because I only put picture until the 12th in first. When I started a new post for November photos, I realized that I had missed OVER HALF of the month. Over half, people. Wow. So here is all of the rest of the crazy month. Please note that Matthew startedworking 24 hour shifts this month. It was a total change in our home, and a major adjustment. He also worked his first fire. That showed me what the rest of my life will probably be like -- total change of plans (we were supposed to go on a double date), but in a good way (I brought a friend along and was super excited for him as he had the opportunity to do what he trained so hard for). I'm proud of him. So very proud.

The last picture is Matt with our family friends at the station. We went to the station at the end of Halloween for a tour, Matt was working a 24. They had a blast, and I was super excited to show off my hubby! Whew. Glad that month is behind us -- November and December are just as crazy. Good think January is shaping up to be slow.

September

January is the month for catching up blogs and getting re-energized, right? Well, that's what my plan is. I'm going to get caught up and start the year off right. Looking back at these pictures has reminded me of all of the goodness that happened in September. Matt started his job at the Fire Station (has it really been five months already?!), we finished the tile in our bathroom (I LOVE my tub!!), my parents came to visit for Oktoberfest (always fun), and our little garden produced tasty produce.
