Flowers in the Snow

There's something deeply satisfying about finishing a crocheted blanket. Especially one that you've been chipping away at for eighteen months. Haha this one was designed to use up my stash, but I still have so many small balls of yarn left. So of course I started another blanket. But for this moment, I'll go ahead and just enjoy this blanket. It's perfect for snuggling on the couch or laying on the lawn (although it's not as long as me haha). Flowers in the Snow is my 149th finish in my crochet every day challenge. 

This pattern had a lot of weaving in ends. Usually that is my nemesis, but I got smart this time and wove in most of the ends when I was 90% finished. And of course I crocheted over all the ones on the edges. So that when I finished my last round of the border, all I had was that one tail to weave in. And it was done. So good!

 

Gah. So much goodness. What's on your hook right now??

December 29: Hexagon Blanket - COMPLETED

Pattern # 363:  Hexagon Blanket

This pattern from Attic 24 is amazing!  I mean seriously, how gorgeous does this blanket look.  And if you are a new crocheter, than Lucy's directions are perfect for you.  She breaks each thing down step by step with brilliant pictures, so even the daftest of people could understand!!  My goal is to make a blanket... but what colors should I use??

Updated June 27, 2013: It took me forever, but I finally finished this dang hexagon blanket! Remember when I shared the start last year? Yeah. It took me FOREVER to find the motivation to finish this bad boy. I kept putting off weaving in the ends, even though there were not too many (because I tried to weave as I went).

 It is a gorgeous blanket though. I had two friends who had girls who were supposed to get this... those kids are now one and six months. Whoops.

Updated January 2014. I gave this to a friend when she adopted her newborn daughter. It was perfect. Like it was meant for her. Here she is...

Updated January 10, 2012: I made this for our friend who is undergoing chemo. I used super soft yarn so it will be comfy on her head. Her husband says she likes earth tones, so I went with green and brown. I think it turned out really well!

September 14: Karisma Granny Square Skirt

Pattern # 257:  Karisma Granny Square Skirt

I love the look of this skirt, with the granny squares along the bottom.  It also looks like it will be solid enough that I do not need to wear another skirt underneath, as is required by most crocheted clothing patterns.  What do you think?  Will you make it?  And do you like the colors.  Personally, I love them!

Suzie is a fellow blogger, who I just recently added to my google reader.  I'm not sure why she was not in there before, but she definitely is now!  I was discussing making a granny square beanie with a friend, and happened to find this pattern.  Wouldn't this be cute on a baby?

Updated April 8, 2013: This hat is totally adorable for kids and adults alike. My mother in law gave me this beautiful red and green and brown yarn. It's incredibly soft and I had no idea what to do with it. I decided to give this hat a whirl, and I LOVE how it came out. Soft and gorgeous, I say!

I spent the past few days going through my friend's queues on Ravelry and finding fun new things to crochet. I cannot remember who had this in her queue, but I immediately fell in love with it! Now I just need to finish my heart square blanket (my friend's baby is due in 4 days), so I can get started on something new!

Updated August 14, 2014: So I already crocheted a hexagon blanket. As has happened a few times before, I didn't realize that I posted basically the same pattern. So I tossed the hexagon one and created this one instead -- Flowers in the Snow. I love how it came out. Seriously, one of my most favorite blankets so far!

June 30: La Push Blanket - COMPLETED

Pattern #181: La Push Blanket

This pattern is a pretty obvious choice for today. I was supposed to have my blanket finished, for the Crochet Along. It's not completely done, but getting close (update later today). Did any of you see the movie last night?

Granny Along: Week 1

I decided to join the granny along over at Crafting with Cat Hair (and no she doesn't use cat hair in her crafts, she just has cats and the hair sometimes gets in the projects... I can understand!). I am excited because I have never been in a crochet along like this! The task for week 1 is to explain which pattern we picked, who it is for, and to review the pattern for potential problems.

I am making the La Push blanket -- and it is a pattern that will be posted here during Twilight week (which also coincides with the June 30th premiere of Eclipse!). So yes, I am killing 2 birds with one stone! And I am making the lap sized version, I do not like the pattern enough to make a full size!
(Edited 5/7: at least I did not at first, I'm now about halfway through the first square and I really like it)

I am not sure who will get this. I decided to make the colors from the movie. So maybe I will give it away in a swap on Ravelry. Or if you are my friend and you want it, let me know! :)

I did find some problems with the pattern. There were a few typos and some rounds missing, but I emailed the designer about it. I also looked at her project page on Ravelry, and I think I can see how she did it! There are 6 other people who made this blanket and they said it was easy -- so I am hoping that is the case!
Edited 5/7: The designed had mistakenly uploaded the wrong file, so all is correct now! So much easier to understand!

Here is a picture of my materials and the pattern. I usually print 2 pages per sheet, so I can conserve paper. I also use scratch paper :)

Updated April 10, 2012: This is basically a giant granny square. I used two colors of teal and variagated teal that I had sitting around. I finished it with a simple SC around the edges. Simple. Sweet. Perfect for a kid to run around with.

Pattern #72: Summer Garden Granny Square

This is one of the cutest patterns that I have seen in a very long time! I love the simplicity of it - and that it looks like a flower! This new addiction of mine, to granny squares, is going to be my demise... I can already tell! haha I love the way that Lucy (from Attic24, the designer of this square) takes each step and breaks it down with amazingly simple pictures. It makes it so anyone can do it. Are any of you going to make this square?
