August Photo a Day

Last year I participated in the August Break, where I took and posted a photo each day for the month of August. I had a lot of fun with that, so I'm going to try and do it again (coinciding with my instagram photo a day). Day 1 was where I work, you can see the photo collage for that below. Day 2 was blue, and I'm using two pictures. The mug is the one I actually took today, and the slippers are from last night. Adorable!

I busted out the Knifty Knitter for a new project today.... This is just round one (aka not what I wanted), but I am loving the results so far!

Matt and I worked in the new garden today.  I looked up from where I was pulling weeds and mixing dirt and compost and saw the kitten just like this.

Oh what I wouldn't give to relax like that and have no qualms about it!

A few months ago we had a Mary Kay makeover night at Bible Study (well, in lieu of...).  I thought I would share my before and afters today.  :)

Messy hair, major breakout, uneven skin tone (yes, I ruffled my hair to make it an even better "before" picture, I also tried to look sad and pathetic.  You should see the outtakes haha)

Even skin tone, eyes popping, hair fixed.  What wonders a little makeup can do.

It is funny because I look at these pictures and immediately see the flaws.... there's my big nose... that's too much lipstick... my eyebrows look funky.  Instead, I need to look at them and think of the beautiful creature that God made me to be - awesome blue eyes, long hair (even tho it is hidden), sparkle in my eyes, etc.  Remember, we are each beautifully and wonderfully made!  Oh yeah, and happy hump day!

My aunt wrote this awesome book, which is now a NY Times bestseller, about a blind guy and his guide dog and how they got out of the 78th floor of one of the twin towers on 9/11. It is both gripping and inspiring.



Plus, my mom sent me an copy signed by the Susy (my aunt), Michael (it is his story), and Roselle (his guide dog).

My dad got us this propane lantern a few years ago and we love it.  I was telling Matt that the sound of the propane lantern just screams camping to me.  I remember playing uno by lantern light when I was camping as a kid.

Some days around the office feel like an episode from the office.  One thing I can count on (most days) is laughter.  I thought I would share some random funny business from my workplace...
Lunchroom Banter:
Becky - I feel like we could make money if I followed you around with a camera
Me - yeah and we could post it on YouTube, call is MegN

Me - I made hot dog buns last night.
Becky - I feel like you would survive in the old times, like you should go back to Amish days. Or on that reality show.
Me - I could totally do that... Oh hold on I gotta find out if Justin and Selena broke up for you!
Becky - And then you say stuff like that and ruin it.

Around the Cubicles:
Becky - [puzzled look as I shuffle by her desk]
Me - What?  I'm shufflin'!  EverydayI'mShufflin.

Me & Janet are watching the Party Rock Anthem video (above) and Becky comes in, laughs at us for a second, then proceeds to shuffle right out of the cubicle -- right into the owner. 
Owner - What the hell is that?  A damn jackalope? [then he starts laughing]
Becky - Um... hahahahha.... I'm shufflin..... Wow that was embarrassing
Janet & I cannot stop laughing and I have to go back to my desk to try and stop laughing.  I'm still laughing now and that was three hours ago!  Seriously, I cannot stop giggling everytime I think about it.

And my photo for today, August Break the 10th, is of my current work.  Boxes upon boxes of papers to shred.  Brings me back to the summer of 2004 and listening to Radio Alice with Emily as we cleaned out the dungeon (hot upper storage closet / room at my mom's office).

  Yes, I did change names to try and keep some semblance of privacy!

August Break, the 9th

Last night I baked one loaf of bread, twelve gourmet hot dog buns, and one apple pie.. All while watching Suits and Necessary Roughness! Fun times!

This whole photo a day thing is fun!! This is what I spent my weekend doing...



I am super excited to say that the quilt is complete! And it is still 3 or 4 weeks until the baby comes, I think. I still need to stitch up a few things, but it feels so good to have the quilt finished. I actually made my own binding and am really happy with how it looks!! I promise to post a picture of the whole blanket once my friend has received it!
