Iron Craft Challenges 8 and 9

I got a little behind with the Iron Craft challenges, but I am all caught up now!  Part of the problem is that I did not have time to do what  I really wanted for the hometown challenge.  My hometown is all about oranges, I think we were the first exporter of oranges from California, or the largest, back in the day.  It was on Jeopardy last week.  Anywho, I wanted to make a shirt with an old crate label on it.  Or a shirt the said "Left my heart in San Francisco" with a heart cut out of California where San Fran is (I'm originally from the Bay).  But I didn't have time to do all that.  So last night I came up with the second best option....

Challenge #8:  Hometown

I used the pattern from the Fruit & Vegetable basket from Coat and Clark [April 21].  That makes me a little further along in crocheting up all the things on the calendar.  Now I just need to finish the rest of the fruits and vegetables for that basket! haha

Challenge #9: And the Oscar Goes to

Harry Potter!  It was going to be Twilight, but the Every Flavor Beans [Jan 17] just seemed so much more fun!  Can you see the vomit flavored one?  How about blueberry pie?  And way faster than the Tent Scene beanie.  I did start the beanie though!

Don't those look delicious??  How did I end up with two food items for these two challenges?  Must have food on the brain!  Oh yeah, and food is small and easy (yes i started and finished both of these projects last night!

Jan 23: House Scarves (Hogwarts)

The last day of Hogwarts week is here, that is quite hard to believe! I am officially three full weeks into Crochet Every Day, that is crazy! This is a fun pattern because it has options for all of the different houses. We have Lion Brand to thank for this pattern. Haven't you all missed them this week? haha They are a bit lacking in the Harry Potter themed projects!

Jan 22: Cauldron Pin Cushion (Hogwarts)

Another pattern from the lovely Pren at Wilcox Wizard Wares. How cute is this tiny little cauldron? And it looks like lots of gold galleons are stowed away inside (I'm probably going to be kicked out of any fan clubs because galleons are probably copper or something - I'm no pro with the Gringotts banking system).

Jan 21: Luna Lovegood Scarf (Hogwarts)

Pattern #21: Luna Lovegood Scarf

Another Ravelry find - the scarf worn by Luna Lovegood in the movie series. I love how different it is. At some point I really need to stop commenting on how different things are from the standard single crochet patterns. haha This would be beautiful in any color!

This is a picture from the movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I believe, as captured by PinkLeo:

Jan 20: Gryffindor Beanie (Hogwarts) - COMPLETED

Pattern #20: Gryffindor Beanie

This pattern was created by my Ravelry friend Pren, over at Wilcox Wizard Wares. She has some awesome crochet patterns, many of which are Harry Potter related. I am excited to try this Gryffindor beanie, because it is different than the other Hogwarts beanies that I made! I bet I could get Matt to wear it if it wasn't in Hogwarts colors. haha

Updated 1/23/2012: I made this hat for our friend who is undergoing chemo. Yes, this is the third hat for her. I love the color combo. Remember it from the Granny Beanie? Anywho... Here are my pictures with it before we gave it to her. And yes, it is totally reversible!

See my awesome bandaid? I burned my arm with a cookie sheet. Blerg!

Reversible!

Not sure why, but Matt was getting a look!

Jan 19: Golden Snitch (Hogwarts)

Pattern #19: Golden Snitch

The third installment of our Harry Potter series is also small. How cute is this Golden Snitch? Is it practical? Not in the least - but it is very cute! I found this on Ravelry as well. Who am I going to give this to? Maybe I will have to participate in one of those Harry Potter swaps.

Jan 18: Mini Dobby Socks (Hogwarts)

Pattern #18: Mini Dobby Socks

This is the second of our Harry Potter series. I found this in a Harry Potter search on Ravelry. Note to self: pick up knitting before searching again - so many more knitting patterns! Anywho, another small pattern, but also very cute! Do you all remember Dobby? He had a much bigger role in the books - I liked him better in the books as well.

Jan 17: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans (Hogwarts) - COMPLETE

Welcome to the newest week over here at crochet every day! I have decided to venture into the magical world of Hogwarts - because I love Harry Potter! This project is super easy and I can't even remember when or how I came across it.  I plan to make it once I have a bunch of scraps. What else do I have in store for Hogwarts week (and this is one of two)? Come back and see!

Updated 3/16/2011:  I made these for the Iron Craft challenge - in the movies.  It was a fun project that used up little bits of yarn.  You could easily make tons of these little jelly beans for your kid to play with.  Since I don't have kids yet, I'm just going to avoid making more! haha
