Babies, Blankets, Pets & More

I love seeing people use the things that I make for them. Seriously, it brings me such great joy. I finished up this Hexagon Blanket in June and was not sure who it was intended for. When my friend Bobbi received her daughter last week, I just knew the blanket was for her. I have seen a few pictures of her laying on it, and I LOVE it. Totally makes my heart happy!

 

 

Little Rylee is the sweetest thing ever. I was privileged enough to visit her twice already, including at her Meet & Greet yesterday. I love holding little ones, and cannot wait for the day when I have my own in my arms!

 

 

When Kai is in the house, the kitties pretty much stay up on the couch / away from her. They are usually out during the day, so I don't feel bad about this. However when Kai is outside, they think they rule the house again. Here is Halvsies in my craft room, he found the perfect spot! haha

 

 

This picture is two months old, but I still cannot believe Kai was ever so tiny!

Ravellenic Games, Finishes 4 and 5

These two projects were pretty quick to whip up. The snowflake definitely took a bit of concentration at first, but then I was just able to go with it! I have really enjoyed the Olypmics this year. Missy Franklin and Gabby Douglas are probably two of my faves. Well, most of the women swimmers seem pretty awesome. And Lochte... well... if only he could tweet without typos. At least he is easy on the eyes -- and an amazing swimmer. Did you know he has 11 medals -- second only to Phelps (I think they are 1 and 2 in US atheletes number of medals, but don't quote me on that). REgardless, it is a stat that no one really talks about, because what is 11, compared to Phelps' 21? Anywho. What you really want to see are some photos...
Baby Ballet Slippers. Here's the important question -- are these masculine enough for a little boy to wear them? Too feminine? Tell me, please!

Snowflake Hat. Makes me want cocoa, fire, and some snowy weather! Not that we get snow here. Ever.

New Hairdo

I have not really done much with my hair since I chopped it all off a year and a half ago. It's been growing pretty quickly, but not doing much else. I wanted something fun and different -- but keeping the length. So I decided to go blonde again! I used to dye my hair all the time, but I haven't done it in four years (not since we got married). I'm enjoying the lightness again!

This is my hair stylist (and good friend)'s baby. So sweet!

The next day my Mom came to town (for Matt's graduation) and then we went to see the newest baby in the family. He's adorable, even if he did pull my hair!

Finishing things up

I have not posted in awhile, and luckily that means I have lots to share! I finished that Gingham Baby Blanket that I was working on. I actually finished it a week before the shower. Woo hoo!  I also adorned a onesie with a crocheted heart, sewed up a fleece hat, and made a golf onesie (sewn on "green" and vinyl flag). You can see more (larger) pictures of the blanket on the project page.

I also made a pinecone. Because I started it last fall and wanted to get it finished. Not really the season, but I just do not care. It feels good to get something finished!

I have also made some more progress on my ripple blanket.

Oh yeah! And Matt and I celebrated four years of wedded bliss!  Woo hoo!

I am thinking of a doing a little Easter crochet along. Anyone interested?

Hello Kitty Beanie

A few months ago, I showed you the Hello Kitty inspired beanie that I made.  And I promised more pictures!  My awesome friend Lauriana took these pictures of her daughter in her birthday beanie.  She is just adorable and really makes my beanie look cute!

She also bought one of my quick knit (knitting loom) beanies for a newborn photoshoot.  How cute is this lil boy?

December 24: Gingham Blanket - COMPLETED

Pattern # 358:  Gingham Blanket

You are probably very confused right now.  I bet you are wondering why there is a baby blanket pattern posted on Christmas Eve.  Well, I just really wanted to make this for a friend's kid, so I put it on the calendar for today (because it was empty) and I'm anal and don't want to switch things up! hahaha  But I guess you could make this in reds and greens and call it Christmassy!  I am probably stressing about Christmas Eve dinner right now, which is why I pre-posted this on Tuesday.  muahahaha the powers of blogger.  Wow.  I think I need more sleep.  Anywho, it's my first year hosting and I am very excited.  I have been trying to do a lot of prep work before, but we will see how well I did!

Updated 2/14/2011 - I finished this up over the weekend.  I started it in December and worked on it slowly (with lots of other projects in between).  Very happy with the finished product.  I actually decreased the size by 2 rows & 2 columns, effectively cutting the amount of squares needed in half.  Then I used a larger hook.  Brilliant, I know.  :)  Very happy with the final product.  I do want better pictures though.  And maybe some with precious baby Alina on it.  I LOVE the edging!

November 18: Baby Checks Blanket - COMPLETED

Remember my great baby blanket search awhile back?  Well, I found this adorable blanket during that search.  And I am about 99% sure I know who the recipient is!  And it is for a boy with a beachy themed room -- so I envision greens & blues!

Updated 9/25/2011:  Finished!  I love finishing blankets.  It feels like such an accomplishment!  I am not sure who this blanket was for, originally, but it definitely did not stay with beachy greens and blues.  This is for my co-workers baby, and her pink and green and brown room!

 

November 16: Baby Gingham Blanket - COMPLETED

A friend asked to make a blanket for her baby boy.  While searching, I found this pattern and I love it.  I could do it in blues, greens, or whites.

Updated March 22, 2012: I finished this blanket about a week before the baby shower! I ended up making it for a different friend's baby boy and she LOVED it. Thank goodness. It was 241 little squares. Whew. I actually made 244 because I lost 3 in the couch. I was so confused when I was down to the last three... because I knew I had counted accurately! I found the missing squares two days later. Oh well. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love and I think a different pound of yarn in three different shades. LOVE how it turned out!

Pumpkin Beanie

I made a beanie for my friend, well actually it was for her son, after she saw the pattern on my blog.  She loved it so much that she ordered a second one for his little friend.  She showed him off at church and a few more orders have come in.  I am so greatful for Jess and her precious baby boy for spreading the love!

Here are a few finished pictures of the beanie.  I am definitely going to make more for my shop.

And here is her little boy.  I know she values his privacy, so I chose only those pictures that do not show his face.  But you can still tell just how cute he is!

October 26: Candy Corn Hat - COMPLETED

Pattern # 299:  Candy Corn Hat

I made this gorgeous beanie for my nephew, Austin.  It was super fast to make, and will make any newborn look like a Halloween candy! haha  I was going to make some for my etsy, but then I saw that you cannot resell these.  Oh well.  I now have lots of yarn for making candy corns and other fall items.

And of course, we need a few pics of baby Austin wearing his new hat!

My coworker says we look related in this last pic.  I dunno, but he sure is a cute!  Thanks to my Aunt Katie (that's his Grandma) for taking the pics!

Pumpkin Beanie Pattern

Remember that pumpkin beanie pattern that I posted a few weeks ago?  And I was so depressed because I could not share the awesome pattern with you?  The first one, that I made?  You know?  You with me now?  Well guess what -- Danyel's pattern is on Fave Crafts.  Size 0 - 3 months is free!  So here you have it!

August 15: Santa Claus Inc & Summer Splendor Doily - COMPLETED

Today's charity is Santa Claus Incorporated, which is actually a local charity to the San Bernardino area.  They give gifts to children in the area that would otherwise not receive gifts.  They ask you to sew, knit, crochet, or create wooden toys as gifts for children.  One of the things that they give is doll beds, so a blanket would be perfect to go with it.  This is something that I can easily crochet.  They also take crocheted (or sewn or knitted) clothing for 4" or 11" dolls.  They also take crocheted clothing & blankets for babies and children.

This was originally a giant granny blanket, but I already made that on March 22 (not realizing it was the same type of pattern). I am changing this pattern to the Summer Splendor Doily, and I plan on making a baby blanket with the pattern. Picture to come once finished!

Updated April 29, 2012: I finished the doily blanket in just a few days and I LOVE it! I used one strand of pound of love (I think) and another strand of Sensations. Doily patterns make such awesome blankets!
