Good morning!  I trust you had a nice Easter. Mine was relaxing, A fun day with Matt's family. Good times had by all. Anywho, I wanted to share a final wrap up with pictures from everyone who joined in the Crochet Along (or at least those that I know of).

Spring Crochet Along, Part 2

It's Wednesday and we are halfway through this Spring Crochet Along. I know there is already one of you who has completed the task! Woo hoo! Actually, two if you count me! Make that three of us so far -- that's just those who posted. I know there's at least one more who has not taken pictures yet!

I finished up a bunch of little Easter Eggs last weekend. I'm glad I opted not to go with the wreath, because these mini eggs make great cat toys! You should see how crazy the kittens go when they bat these things around!
You have one more week to finish up your egg cozy or egg or bunny and tell me all about it. I will try to remember to add links as you guys finish projects! Starting now...

More Eggs

I went on an egg cozy craze last week!  After making the black sheep, I quickly whipped up these chicken and ducky cozies.  Too bad I am so slow at getting pictures taken!  What usually happens is I use my work break to go outside and get pictures (you can see the office's lawn and picnic table in these pics)  haha  Here are a few pictures of the Ducky (Apr 2: Ducky Egg Cozy) and Chicken (April 1: Chicken Egg Cozy). 

I really love the pattern for the chicken.  I thought it was well written and the final product was beautiful (well as beautiful as a chicken egg cozy can be!)

Easter EGGstravaganza

How overused is that pun?  Probably very overused. haha  I have made three of those little egg cozies, and I am really excited about it!  I made a little lamb yesterday, and I plan to make another for my Mom.  However, my hubby could not stop laughing at me -- he said I created a black sheep!  It's dark gray, thankyouverymuch! haha

The bunny was made last year and the carrot early this year.   The sheep (March 29) is the newest addition.  To see a closeup, click the link for March 29. These little things are addictive... because they are so fast to whip up!

Pattern #100: Easter Bunny

Wow. 100 patterns. That's crazy! And I could not decide which bunny to use for my last Easter pattern, so I am posting 2! I can do that - it's my blog! hahaha  The second bunny is from Very Berry Handmade.

(I will probably make the ears a bit smaller. Those are just too big for me! But wouldn't this be cute as a gift for a new baby??)

Updated 10/9/2011:  I finished both bunnies this weekend.  The first looks really ugly to me. (I actually ended up taking him apart and salvaging the eyes).  The second, super cute.  Not how I first imagined, right?  Yeah, well.  That's just life!  I had the body and head and arms of the second bunny finished a long time ago.  I finished up the legs and ears and attaching this evening.  It all went together pretty quick.  I am rather disappointed that I put this off from April to October.  No fun.  I really like the second bunny though, it is adorable!  Fits perfectly in the palm of my hand!

This is one last little Easter basket for this season. And how cute is it? I like how different is is, compared to the others. And that flower is just tooo freakin cute!

Apr 8 - Carrot Rattle (Easter)

Maybe this week should be called Easter for your kids? I dunno. But this rattle would be perfect to put in an Easter basket for a first Easter. One of my coworkers keeps saying that I should make baby toys - maybe this will be my start!

Augh! How could I have forgotten to post today's pattern until now? oh well. It's here now! This would be perfect for a child's first Easter. I mean, how adorable would your little one look holding this basket??

It's still Easter week (the second round) over here and there are plenty more baskets where this came from! I love the simplicity of this one!

Updated January 15, 2014: Well, I decided not to crochet the above basket. I'm not really sure why as the pattern is still accessible, except that it took me awhile to find it when I went searching and I think I just wanted to use something else. (because I had way too many Easter basket patterns). So today's pattern is now the Cosmos Doily and I made it in Christmas colors. Totally like Easter, right? Oy. I think it turned out looking more like an Italian flag. You can't even see the design well. And this is why I don't often use variegated yarn!!

 

Apr 5: Chocolate Bunny (Easter)

This pattern reminds me of the Veggietales movie about Nezzy and the chocolate bunnies. They run around singing a song about "the bunny, the bunny, whoa I ate the bunny." I think the lesson is about obedience? Anywho, this cute Lion Brand pattern would be a perfect alternative to a real chocolate bunny in your little one's Easter basket!

This pattern is the real reason for Easter. Jesus death and Resurrection. That's all I need to say about it. :) It's a cross afghan square - for my square of the month afghan!

Updated April 10, 2012: I decided to make a few eggs with different colors of yarn. I didn't want a whole wreath but I wanted the eggs in a basket. So adorable! This was my Easter 2012 project (I like to make at least one thing for each season, each year). I also used this for a Spring Crochet Along.

Updated 3/31/2011:  The last of the egg cozies is complete.  I am bummed that I waited so long -- they were so fast to make!  The beak is cute, but I just cannot get the eyes right! haha   Maybe I should have just made French knots, as they suggested.  I tried safety eyes, but those just looked super weird!  He is pictured here with the chicken, from April 1 :)

Pattern #91: Chicken Over Egg Cozy

This pattern is rather ironic. It's a chicken holding an egg. haha This pattern is also different for 2 reasons: a) it's our first non-Lion Brand pattern and b) the egg is sideways. What do you think? Should they all be sideways like this, or do you like the tall versions better?

I can't believe it is April! That means I have been doing this for 3 months already! Crazy! Only 9 months left in this initial year of pattern posting (the whole completion part still has lots of time left!)

Updated 3/31/2011:  I am very excited to post this cute little chicken!  I created this bad boy a few days ago and LOVE how it turned out!  Seriously, this was an easy pattern to follow and I was very happy with the finished product.  It was gorgeous -- well as gorgeous as a chicken egg cozy can be!

This is another egg cozy from Lion Brand. I told you, they are cute! This would also be really cute if you closed up the bottom and turned it into a rattle! I may just have to do that!

I finished this egg cozy up real quick on Friday.  I was at my coffee and crochet date and decided to just go for it.  Nevermind that I still needed to finish both a doily and a blanket!!  This took less than an hour to make and is super cute!

Pattern #88: Little Lamb Egg Cozy

Apparently little egg cozies (or egg covers, as I call them) are all the rage for crochters. At first, I did not see the appeal, but they started to grow on me. And this one is perfect because it is a lamb. My mom and grandma are big Easter lamb fans (Jesus = Lamb of God), so this it fitting. And adorable. Thanks to Lion Brand for this pattern.

Pattern #87: Mini Easter Basket


I love Easter. It is the time when Jesus is at the forefront of our minds as we remember his death for us. I participated in a traditional Passover meal last year -- that was awesome. And when I was 13, I went to a Presbyterian church and we did the whole Ash Wednesday service and giving things up for Lent. Now, I don't usually give anything up for Lent. Sometimes I think about it -- but usually I do not.


I also loved new dresses for Easter morning and the big Easter ham and egg hunt at Mama's house afterwards (well originally at the Florys). Recently, traditions have changed as the kids have grown up. We haven't had any Easter egg hunts in awhile (I wanted to hide some for Davis last year -- he did not find that amusing haha), but I still love Easter baskets. Matthew does not get it, but know that I am just going to do Christmas stockings & Easter baskets for us -- until we have kids. Then the kids get all the goodies (okay, we will still have our own stockings!). Anywho, I needed some Easter decorations. Actually, I have some. An "egg tree" that I got (well my mom got it for me) while in Austria. I need to put those out. Anywho, I wanted mor Easter decor. So for the next 2 weeks you will see all things Easter. And yes, most will be commercialized (bunnies, baskets, eggs) things and not the real reminders (cross, lambs) because those are much harder to find! I hope you enjoy this Easter season with me!

Updated June 16, 2014: As you notice, the pattern at the top of this page is crossed out. That is because when I first blogged about it, it was a free pattern, and it is now available for purchase. One of the things I did with this blog (unintentionally, but maybe because I'm a cheapskate) was only post free patterns. Occasionally I would post a link to a cool pattern for purchase, but all of my challenge patterns were free. So I have replaced the above pattern with this one.

And as you can see. It's cute. Crocheted in two strands for a sturdy little basket, I found the pattern delightful! They will be perfect next Easter!

This cute little pattern is from Bev's Country Cottage. I just love the way this little dress looks. I can already imagine it on an adorable baby girl. I can't wait to crochet this!

Sometimes I am moronic. Sometimes (okay twice so far) I post the same pattern twice. This time, at least, the pattern had two different names. But upon inspection, it was most definitely the same pattern. The "Angel Wings Pinafore" was definitely the same pattern (and url) as the "Blue Pinafore with Ruffles." Sigh. The only perk -- It left me room for a pattern that I have found since 2010. I mean sure, I have crocheted many other things than the projects listed here; but I feel better when I crochet the things on my list. Because it means I can check something off the list! These things are so stinkin adorable. I think my puppy thinks they are realistic -- she got her little teeth into three of them! Sigh. I haven't decided what to do to fix them yet, so I threw them back into the Easter decor box. I'll deal with that problem next year...
