Olympic Games. Unless you live under a rock, you know what they are and that they are happening. A few years back, knitters and crocheters started challenging themselves to yarn projects as they watched the games. This has morphed into a giant competition on Ravelry with categories (toy toss, shawl crawl, etc) with "medals" and prizes. I decided to join in on the fun this year and join Team Planet June. I have completed four items so far (which also means I am closer to my 365 projects by 2014 goal) and I and am halfway through completing a shawl. Are you participating in the Ravellenic Games? What projects are you currently working on? Have you enjoyed the Olympics so far? I really like swimming and gymnastics, although my old roommate is good friends with the 2004 & 2008 fencing gold medalist. So I cheer for Mariel too (side note, she carried the US flag in the opening ceremonies).
One of the pictures below shows my project bags; each includes a pattern, yarn, hook, and whatever notions I might need. The other picture is of my completed projects thus far; two hats, a candy cane, and a whale. Random, I know.

Remember the titles I was talking about last week? They have begun! What do you think these pictures will be about?? hahaha
This is my "day to night" look. hahaha I definitely feel weird posting outfit pics! |
The most amazing (and giant) margarita at the Mission Inn with dear friends! |
Matt enjoying breakfast on our new patio set! On sale from Lowe's! |
A coworker's office was wrapped in plastic wrap on his birthday. She eventually wrapped the door too. haha |
Veggies from our garden. I'm one proud lady! |

Hexagon Progess
Finally! I have a picture of a crocheted work in progress to show you! I'm working on three blankets at the moment, as well as a doily and a few other things. Why do I start so many projects at once? Oh well. Here is the hexagon blanket so far.
And no, I am not going in any particular color order. I just threw a bunch of pink, purple, brown and white yarn into my basket and am going with it! The one on the far right is actually dark brown, but the flash made it look black. There is also no blue, just a deep purple that looks blue with the flash!

Random
Sometimes I do not want to title a post because I have just no idea what to say. You know? Like today's title could have been "Mexican cat crochet onion" if we went with the first four pictures. But that is just crazy. Then again, maybe it's quirky, and I should just go with it? I dunno. Regardless, here are some random pictures from the beginning of June.
Matt made tacos. They were tasty. We totally just ate them at the counter like this. |
This is Brooke. And Halvsies. Brooke and I used to have lunch together weekly. Then she quit her job. Now she's pregnant. We happened to grab breakfast this day. |
Ripple blanket with Skeaks underneath. Can you even see her? The blanket is almost done. The only reason that I let the cats get close to it is because it is for them. |
Green Onions & Swiss Chard that my Mother in law grew. I'm still in awe. |
I made an earring holder. I love it. I actually wear my earrings now! [because I see them out on display, not hidden in a box] |
We played frisbee one afternoon. It was exhausing. My ponytail looks cute though! |
I came home to nap with Halvs. |

Scott and Joy's Wedding!
The main reason that we went to New Mexico was for Scott and Joy's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and I was so glad to be able to attend. I instagrammed a lot -- purely to keep those who could not make the trip in the loop! Okay, and because I just love taking pictures! If you noticed that I have on glasses in the rest of the pics, it is because my contacts got tossed! That was part of the craziness of 9 in a home. haha Anywho, here are the pictures from the ceremony and reception.
Line Dancing |
Craziness with my partner in crime / dance partner Lindsey! |
My handsome date! |
Life happens. I take pictures. I happen to like to share my pictures. Deal with it. More craftiness should come soon!

Scott's House and Rehearsal Dinner
The third installment of our Scott & Joy wedding extravaganza is here. Friday was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Since our men were in the wedding, we got to join in on the fun! The dinner was at this cool restaurant in the hills ourside of Los Alamos. The food was amazing and the (pink!) cactus margaritas definitely whetted our whistles.
I wasn't a sorority girl, but apparently I always pose like one! |
Learning some line dances back at the church. |
Whipped Cream vodka? Yes please! |
Those cups are from the college group where we all met. Ironic that we are having mimosas in them, right? haha |
Our pinterest inpsired hair. Love it! |

Road Trip!
Back in May (over Memorial Day weekend) we took a road trip to New Mexico for a friend's wedding. It was a long weekend, but so much fun! I'm breaking up the trip into a few posts, because I took way too many (Instagram Addict, much?). These are all from the van. We rented a seven passenger van for our seven passengers on the trip. It was a really nice van, even if it was a bit of a tight squeeze.
And we had to get back home, right?
Starbucks in Barstow, about an hour in. The only way to do these things! |
Made it to Arizona (and I got Matt to pull over)! |
Lunch in Williams, Arizona |
Quick (three hour) detour to see the Grand Canyon! |
Getting a little burpee action at a rest stop. |
Shhh! Matt's sleeping! |
Playing MASH and learning about the military in the backseat |
This is how we keep an eye on our "kids" haha |

A Month
Whoa. Has it seriously been a month since I last blogged? I had been super super busy. I have pictures to share from three different weddings (one of which I coordinated). A few new finished projects. And just life. But for now, here are a few random pictures. And hopefully I will get back into the swing of things!
